Borussia Dortmund's hopes of qualifying for next season's UEFA Champions League suffered a major blow as they were handed a 1-0 defeat by Stuttgart.

Serhou Guirassy scored the winning goal as Borussia Dortmund were beaten by a tenacious Stuttgart side for the third time this season. The defeat marked a bitter end to a special evening that saw the Black and Yellows celebrate the 50th birthday of the Westfalenstadion.

Borussia Dortmund were made to rue their lack of efficiency in front of goal. Edin Terzic's side missed chance after chance in the second-half, with Nico Schlotterbeck being the biggest culprit after failing to score from point-blank range.

The result sees Borussia Dortmund slip to fifth place in the Bundesliga standings, and they now have their work cut out as they look to qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League.

Here are our player ratings from Borussia Dortmund's 1-0 defeat to Stuttgart.

Kobel did not do much wrong on his return to the starting XI. And he even got his hand to Guirassy's shot for the winner, but the pace of the shot meant that he was unable to keep it out.
