Borussia Dortmund returned to winning ways in the Bundesliga by dispatching Union Berlin 2-0 thanks to goals from Karim Adeyemi and Ian Maatsen.

In what was pretty much a must-win game in the capital, Borussia Dortmund managed to see off the challenge of Union Berlin. It was far from a complete performance from Edin Terzic's side, but the three points will come as a big boost for the embattled head coach.

Borussia Dortmund were clinical in front of goal for the most part, while their opponents were wasteful with their chances. And misses from Kevin Volland and co. proved to be very costly in the end for the Berliners.

Karim Adeyemi opened the scoring for Borussia Dortmund, before Ian Maatsen's first goal in BVB colours secured the win. The result will come as more of a sigh of relief than anything else for the Black and Yellows, who still have plenty of work to do if they are to finish in the Bundesliga top four this season.

Here are our player ratings from Borussia Dortmund's 2-0 win over Union Berlin.

Alexander Meyer (7/10)

It was a well-earned clean-sheet for Alexander Meyer, who did an impressive job in Gregor Kobel's absence. The goalkeeper made a number of crucial saves for his side, was alert at all times, and did not give much away in possession either.
