Borussia Dortmund have seemingly decided to put the move for Rayan Cherki on hold, despite claims on Sunday that an agreement was close to being reached.

Reports in France claimed on Sunday that Borussia Dortmund were closing in on a deal worth €15 million to sign Rayan Cherki from Lyon. Those reports have now been rubbished by Sky Sport, who claim that the move is actually on hold at the moment.

Despite having an agreement on personal terms in place with Cherki, Borussia Dortmund have decided to prioritise bolstering the squad in other positions. Signing a new right-back is on top of BVB's list of priorities at the moment. And the Black and Yellows are also close to completing the deal for Pascal Groß from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Rayan Cherki prefers Borussia Dortmund over PSG

This does not mean that Borussia Dortmund have decided against signing Rayan Cherki this summer. But this does put a potential transfer into doubt, at least for now. Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in signing the 20 year old, although he is said to prefer a move to BVB.

If Borussia Dortmund do decide against signing Cherki, it could mean another opportunity in the first-team squad for Gio Reyna, who struggled for playing time last season before moving to Nottingham Forest on loan in January.

Borussia Dortmund have made two signings so far this summer, bringing in Waldemar Anton and Serhou Guirassy from VfB Stuttgart. They are also set to sign Pascal Groß, but may well have to sell players before making further moves on the transfer market.
