Borussia Dortmund are pushing to sign Yan Couto from Manchester City, and are reportedly ready to spend around 20-25 million euros for the talented right-back.
Yan Couto has emerged as Borussia Dortmund's top right-back target, and they already have an agreement in place with the 22 year old over personal terms. According to Sky Sport, the Black and Yellows are ready to pay a transfer fee of around 20-25 million euros to sign Couto from Manchester City.
The report adds that Manchester City are holding out for more money, and negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing. Couto is keen to join Borussia Dortmund this summer. And with 12 months left on his current contract, all parties will hope that an agreement over the transfer can be reached soon.
Signing a right-back high on Borussia Dortmund's priority list
Julian Ryerson is the only natural right-back in the Borussia Dortmund squad at the moment, so it is not a surprise that those in charge want to bolster the squad in that position.
Couto is coming off an excellent season on loan with Girona, and his attack-minded style of play would make him well suited to Nuri Sahin's side. The Brazil international scored two goals and assisted a further ten in 39 appearances for Girona last season as they surpassed all expectations and qualified for the UEFA Champions League.
The high competition for places at Manchester City means that it is unlikely Yan Couto will get much playing time for Pep Guardiola's side. Borussia Dortmund would be able to offer him regular playing time at the highest level, and will hope to seal an agreement swiftly.
