As the transfer market rumbles on, Borussia Dortmund continues to pinpoint targets that may or may not be solid fits to help plug the gaps left behind by players who have left, as well as targets for positions that could possibly use some additional depth.

According to reports, a new name has surfaced on this potential list of players for Die Schwarzgelben in the form of Real Salt Lakes’s Carlos Andrés Gómez. Gómez is having a very strong season in the MLS this campaign, with the player chipping in with 13 goals 7 assists. The Colombian plies his trade on the right wing, and has excelled in terms of his successful take-ons (2.69) and progressive passes received (11.57) per 90, further underscoring the attacking threat and ability to occupy dangerous positions for his side.

The news of Dortmund’s interest could come hand in hand with the reports surrounding Karim Adeyemi and the effort Juventus could be putting into that deal. Should the German attacker depart, the club would likely have or bring in another winger for depth purposes.

Gómez’s current market value sits at five million euros but his season and importance to Real Salt Lake’s performances may push the price up significantly, should Dortmund choose to make a move. The question that remains is whether or not the player would be ready to play a significant role for the club. Moving from MLS to the Bundesliga has it's growing pains as previous transfers of similar nature have shown due to the significant difference in quality between the two competitions.

The move itself would once again be a very Sven Mislintat-esque transfer however, with the young Colombian winger fitting into the parameters of the youthful player profile Dortmund is looking to revamp the squad with. As things stand though, a move is only likely if Dortmund makes sales that necessitate such a move come to fruition.
