Borussia Dortmund’s plans for the summer transfer window are surely taking shape behind the scenes despite the club also preparing for the Champions League final this coming Saturday. The reports surrounding these plans have alluded to a variety of players and positions, which once again highlights the size of the task that awaits Die Schwarzgelben this summer.

An additional name has been added to this potential list of targets, with Dortmund being linked to Corinthians Winger Wesley. Dortmund aren’t the only Bundesliga team linked however, with Bayer Leverkusen also reportedly throwing their hat in the ring for the player’s signature.

While not really markets that have been tapped by Dortmund much in recent years, the signing of Justin Lerma from Independiente de Valle could highlight that Dortmund’s focus on South America has intensified. Wesley, on his part, is a bit older (19), and unlike Lerma, if signed would likely be integrated into the first team at s faster pace. The player has impressed for Corinthians, especially in terms of his progressive carries (5.26) and successful take-ons (4.46) per 90.

Dortmund will be looking to bring in a new attacker/ winger depending on the upcoming reshuffle. Much will depend on the situations of Jadon Sancho and Donyell Malen, but it remains to be seen just what route Dortmund will take to deal with these matters. The asking price for Corinthians seems to be closer to 30 million euros, while Dortmund would likely be keen to drop that price as much as possible.

While Wesley would certainly be an interesting option for Dortmund to pursue, the club also has a few other players on their radar, including German talent Brajan Gruda. Dortmund will likely do their best to make an economical choice dictated by available funds from player sales, so it may be some time yet before we see the club play their hand in this regard.
