Borussia Dortmund are set to complete the signing of Maximilian Beier from TSG Hoffenheim, with the deal set to cost the club around 30 million euros.
Maximilian Beier will bolster the Borussia Dortmund attack that recently lost Niclas Füllkrug to West Ham United. According to multiple reports, the Black and Yellows will pay an initial fee of around 28 million euros for the Germany international, and performance related add-ons could take the total transfer fee to around 30 million euros if met.
Signing another new striker was on top of Borussia Dortmund's list of priorities for the transfer window following the departure of Füllkrug.
Youssoufa Moukoko and Sebastien Haller are also free to leave the club, leaving summer signing Serhou Guirassy as the only option in attack. Beier excels in the number nine role, but is also comfortable playing out wide or as the second striker.
Maximilian Beier to sign five year contract with Borussia Dortmund
The 21 year old enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with TSG Hoffenheim last season, scoring 16 goals and assisting a further three. His performances saw him attract the interest of Liverpool, Bayer Leverkusen, Chelsea, and a host of other clubs. But Borussia Dortmund will come out on top in the race for his signature.
The expectation is that Beier will sign a five year contract with Borussia Dortmund. He is set to partner Guirassy in attack for Nuri Sahin's side in the coming season. He could make his BVB debut next weekend against against FC Phönix Lübeck in the first round of the DFB-Pokal.
