Borussia Dortmund striker's proposed move to Marseille is off
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko will not be joining Olympique Marseille after the two clubs failed to reach an agreement on a transfer.
It is not a secret that Youssoufa Moukoko is keen to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer, with his agent revealing his wish to find his client a new club before the transfer window closes. So far, only Olympique Marseille have shown concrete interest in a move for the 19 year old. And now it appears that Moukoko will not be joining the Ligue 1 side this summer.
According to BILD, Marseille's last offer of a €500,000 loan fee and an option to buy for around €10 million failed to meet Borussia Dortmund's requirements. The BVB bosses are under no pressure to sell Moukoko, and will not part ways with him for a cut-price fee, just because he has stated his desire to leave.
Borussia Dortmund have a striker surplus on their hands
Borussia Dortmund have not received any other concrete bids for the highly rated striker, although Lille are also said to be interested in signing him.
With just over two weeks left before the transfer window closes, Moukoko will hope for a quick resolution on his future. If he stays at BVB beyond the summer, he faces the risk of being frozen out of the side.
The Germany international, who made his Borussia Dortmund first-team debut just one day after his 16th birthday, has scored 18 goals and assisted a further eight in 99 appearances for the club.
The Black and Yellows now have four strikers in their first-team ranks, including Serhou Guirassy, Maximilian Beier, Sebastien Haller, and Youssoufa Moukoko. It will be interesting to see if this striker surplus can be resolved in the coming weeks.
