Borussia Dortmund vs Bayer Leverkusen: Bundesliga team news, preview

Borussia Dortmund will welcome newly-crowned Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen to the Westfalenstadion this weekend.

Another tough test awaits Borussia Dortmund in their bid to finish in the top four as they take on Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. Xabi Alonso's side have yet to lose a game this season, but BVB will hope to catch them still in party mode after recently winning the Bundesliga title and qualifying for the Europa League semifinals.

Borussia Dortmund will also have had two extra days of rest, having played against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday while Bayer Leverkusen battled in the Europa League quarterfinals on Thursday.

Edin Terzic will have to make do without a number of key players, including Karim Adeyemi, Sebastien Haller, Ramy Bensebaini, and quite possibly Donyell Malen. We could see some changes to the starting XI to deal with the recent fixture congestion. Felix Nmecha, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Marco Reus are among the players who could be in line to feature on Sunday.

Marcel Sabitzer will hope to continue his excellent run of form, having scored three goals and assisted a further two in Borussia Dortmund's last two games.

Bayer Leverkusen have exceeded all expectations this season, with a stunning campaign masterminded by Xabi Alonso. Having already clinched the Bundesliga title, the all-conquering Werkself will now be determined to go the entire season undefeated.

Florian Wirtz is coming off a stunning hat-trick against Werder Bremen, while Victor Boniface has picked up where he left off since returning from injury. Wing-backs Alejandro Grimaldo and Jeremie Frimpong have been in excellent form this season, and will look to cause problems to the BVB defence on Sunday. Leverkusen will be without the suspended Amine Adli and injured Adam Hložek.
