Matchday 27 in the Bundesliga was dominated by spirited comebacks and a huge shock in the topspiel, with Borussia Dortmund getting the better of rivals Bayern Munich. Goals from Karim Adeyemi and Julian Ryerson helped the dogged BVB take the spoils in Der Klassiker, all but ending Bayern's title charge in the process.

Bayer Leverkusen kept their unbeaten run alive in the Bundesliga as late goals from Robert Andrich and Patrik Schick helped them turn things around and beat Hoffenheim 2-1. In-form striker Maximilian Beier had earlier given Hoffenheim the lead, but Xabi Alonso's side managed to find a way once again to extend their lead at the top to 13 points.

VfB Stuttgart and Heidenheim played out a six-goal thriller, with Deniz Undav rescuing a point for the Swabians in the 98th minute. Goals from Serhou Guirassy and Angelo Stiller earlier had Stuttgart on top, before an own-goal from Alexander Nübel and a brace from Tim Kleindienst turned the game on its head. But Stuttgart kept their Champions League hopes on track by scoring in the final minute of the game.

RB Leipzig were unable to make their dominance pay as they could only manage a goalless draw against Mainz 05. Marco Rose's side now find themselves three points behind fourth placed Borussia Dortmund.

Bottom club Darmstadt came from two goals down to earn a point away to VfL Bochum. A brace from Philipp Hofmann had the Ruhr side in cruise control, before Tim Skarke and Oscar Vilhelmsson scored to help Darmstadt earn a share of the spoils.

SC Freiburg enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 win away to Borussia Mönchengladbach, with Michael Gregoritsch, Merlin Röhl and Ritsu Dōan on the score-sheet.

Eintracht Frankfurt failed to close the gap to RB Leipzig as they were held to a goalless draw by Union Berlin. The Eagles remain in sixth place, five points clear of FC Augsburg. The Bavarians' hopes of European qualification suffered a blow, as Davie Selke cancelled out Arne Maier's strike to ensure a share of the spoils for FC Köln.

Ralph Hasenhüttl marked the start of his reign as Wolfsburg head coach with a 2-0 win over Werder Bremen. Maxence Lacroix and Lovro Majer were on the score-sheet for Wolfsburg, while both teams had players sent off.
