Bundesliga Roundup: Borussia Dortmund boost top four hopes; Bayer Leverkusen claim dramatic win

Borussia Dortmund returned to winning ways and bolstered their hopes of finishing in the top four, while a late winner helped Bayer Leverkusen continue their title charge on matchday 17 of the Bundesliga season.

Fans were treated to another enthralling weekend of action as the Bundesliga returned following the winter break. It was a successful weekend for the top two, with Bayer Leverkusen enjoying a 1-0 win over Augsburg courtesy of a 94th minute winner from Exequiel Palacios. The Bavarians defended with great resolve, but were undone by an excellent finish from the midfielder.

Bayern Munich stayed hot on the heels of the league leaders, as a Jamal Musiala brace helped them cruise to a 3-0 win over Hoffenheim. Harry Kane was also on target for the defending champions.

Jadon Sancho celebrated his return to the Bundesliga with an assist as Borussia Dortmund closed the gap to fourth placed RB Leipzig with a 3-0 win over Darmstadt. Julian Brandt, Marco Reus, and Youssoufa Moukoko were on the scoresheet for the Black and Yellows.

RB Leipzig fell to a disappointing 1-0 defeat at home to Eintracht Frankfurt despite dominating proceedings, with Ansgar Knauff scoring the winning goal.

Third placed Stuttgart were also beaten, as they lost 3-1 to Borussia Mönchengladbach. Robin Hack opened the scoring after just 21 seconds, before doubling his tally in the 19th minute. Josha Vagnoman pulled a goal back for Stuttgart, before Jordan sealed the win for Gerardo Seoane's side.

SC Freiburg and Union Berlin played out a goalless draw, while Heidenheim rescued a point away to FC Köln as Adrian Beck canceled out Davie Selke's opener. A dramatic late goal from Niklas Stark helped Werder Bremen earn a share of the spoils against Bochum. Mainz 05 came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against Wolfsburg.
