It was a successful weekend for the Bundesliga's top three, as Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich and Stuttgart all claimed wins. While RB Leipzig are now just one point behind fourth placed Borussia Dortmund.

Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen maintained their unbeaten start to the season as a brace from Nathan Tella helped them see off the challenge of Darmstadt.

Bayern Munich remain hot on the heels of Xabi Alonso's side ahead of the two sides' meeting this weekend. The Bavarians came from behind to claim a 3-1 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday, with Aleksandar Pavlović, Harry Kane and Matthijs de Ligt on the scoresheet.

VfB Stuttgart showcased their top four credentials by claiming a 3-1 win over SC Freiburg. Deniz Undav was the star of the show again for the away side, while Chris Führich and Maximilian Mittelstädt were also on target.

RB Leipzig finally ended their dismal run of form by dispatching Union Berlin 2-0. Goals from Loïs Openda and Benjamin Šeško secured a rather comfortable win for Marco Rose's team.

Borussia Dortmund's lead over fifth placed RB Leipzig is down to just one point after they were held to a goalless draw by Heidenheim. The Black and Yellows were well off the pace and were somewhat lucky to come away with a point in the end.

Lovro Majer's brace helped Wolfsburg come from behind twice, as they played out an entertaining 2-2 draw against TSG Hoffenheim. Maximilian Beier and Grischa Prömel were on the scoresheet for Hoffenheim, but Majer ensured a share of the spoils for his side.

Werder Bremen continued their fine run of form by earning a 1-0 win over Mainz 05. Marvin Ducksch's early goal was enough to dispatch the relegation threatened 05ers.

Ermedin Demirović scored his 11th goal of the season to help FC Augsburg rescue a 1-1 draw against VfL Bochum, who had earlier taken the lead through Moritz Broschinski.

FC Köln boosted their hopes of avoiding relegation by claiming a 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, who had two players sent off. Faride Alidou, who is on loan from Eintracht Frankfurt, gave the Billy Goats the lead in the 68th minute, before Jan Thielmann made sure of the win.
