Edin Terzic is confident that Niclas Füllkrug can overcome his recent slump in form and get back to scoring goals for Borussia Dortmund very soon.

Niclas Füllkrug is going through a rough patch, having failed to score in any of his last nine appearances for Borussia Dortmund. The Germany international's performances have been the subject of plenty of scrutiny in recent weeks, and he came under more criticism on Wednesday after a disappointing display against Atletico Madrid.

But Füllkrug still retains the backing of Terzic, who believes that it is only a matter of time before the striker returns to the form that prompted Borussia Dortmund to sign him from Werder Bremen last summer. "When you're a Borussia Dortmund striker and you haven't scored in nine games, naturally it becomes a topic of public discussion," Terzic said during his pre-match press conference on Friday.

"One thing is the goals, the other is making sure that you are contributing towards the team. If you do that, you'll soon start scoring goals again. It was a difficult game for him in Madrid. He knows how important his goals are for us. He works extremely hard both in and after training. If he keeps working like this, it won't be long before he gets through this phase."

Sébastien Haller came on to replace Füllkrug against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday and made an instant impact, as he scored a crucial goal to keep the Champions League quarterfinal tie alive. Terzic feels that the Ivory Coast international is not far away from the starting XI. "We are delighted that Haller is fit again. He's trained really well in recent weeks, he's performed well as a substitute, and isn't far away from the starting XI."

Haller, who hasn't started a game for Borussia Dortmund since September, has scored three goals in 17 games across all competitions this season. Füllkrug, meanwhile, has 13 goals and ten assists to his name in 39 appearances.
