Edin Terzic was delighted with the impact Gio Reyna made off the bench for Borussia Dortmund on Sunday, amid all the uncertainty surrounding his future.
It has been heavily reported in recent weeks that Gio Reyna is keen to leave Borussia Dortmund, and the likes of Nottingham Forest, Sevilla, Olympique Marseille, and Real Sociedad are all said to be in the race for his signature.
Amid all the speculation about his future, Reyna featured for Borussia Dortmund on Sunday as he came off the bench during their 3-0 win over VfL Bochum. Playing in the number ten role, the 21 year old looked lively during his cameo appearance, and also came close to scoring.
Edin Terzic was asked about Reyna after the game. And the BVB head coach was pleased with the USMNT international's showing. "Gio is a fantastic player. Of course he's not happy when he's not playing," Terzic told DAZN. "[Against Bochum] you could see that Gio is capable of influencing the game from the bench."
"He was very confident on the ball, managed to create a few dangerous situations, but was a bit unlucky with his finishing in one or two situations. We had over 50 ball contacts in the opponent's penalty area, a strong figure. But that's no good if you don't finish strongly. We'll work on that so that we can do better in the next game."
With the January transfer window set to close this week, there will soon be clarity on Gio Reyna's future. He still has 18 months left on his Borussia Dortmund contract, and those in charge at the club will hope to get the best fee possible if he decides to leave. Reyna has 17 goals and 16 assists to his name in 121 appearances for BVB.
