Felix Nmecha made a long-awaited return to team training on Wednesday after spending the last four months on the sidelines due to a hip injury.

Borussia Dortmund announced on Wednesday that Felix Nmecha was able to take part in team training for the first time since November. But the club added that the talented midfielder is not yet an option for the matchday squad, having spent so long on the sidelines.

Nmecha picked up a hip injury during Borussia Dortmund's clash against VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga in November. For a while, there was a lot of uncertainty surrounding his injury as he opted to treat it conservatively instead of going for surgery. But now it looks like he is finally closing in on full fitness.

It remains to be seen when Nmecha will be able to return to action for Borussia Dortmund. The likelihood is that the 23 year old will be slowly reintroduced into the team, with the aim of getting some match rhythm back under his belt. Borussia Dortmund have a number of crunch games coming up over the next few months, and his impending return will come as a big boost to the team's floundering midfield.

Felix Nmecha, who joined Borussia Dortmund from VfL Wolfsburg in the summer for a fee of more than 30 million euros, has made a total of 15 appearances for the club so far. Nmecha struggled for form and fitness in the early weeks of the season, but was starting to show glimpses of his quality before picking up his injury in November.
