Five Borussia Dortmund players in latest Germany squad
With no Antonio Rüdiger in the squad, Nico Schlotterbeck and Waldemar Anton could be vying for a spot in the starting XI. It is also possible that the duo could start together in the Germany back-line. Jonathan Tah and Robin Koch are the other centre-backs in the Germany squad.
Pascal Groß and Emre Can will also hope for minutes in the new-look Germany midfield following the retirements of İlkay Gündoğan and Toni Kroos. Meanwhile, Maximilian Beier will compete with former BVB striker Niclas Füllkrug and Kai Havertz for a spot in the number nine role.
Nagelsmann will also make a decision on the next Germany captain, with Bayern Munich's Joshua Kimmich the favourite to take over from Gündoğan.
While five Borussia Dortmund players have been called up by Nagelsmann, there was no place in the squad for the likes of Julian Brandt, Niklas Süle, Karim Adeyemi, and Felix Nmecha. Other big names to have been left out include Serge Gnabry and Leon Goretzka. While Angelo Stiller of VfB Stuttgart has been handed his first call-up to the Germany national team.
