Gregor Kobel expected to be fit for Borussia Dortmund's Bundesliga opener despite back trouble

Borussia Dortmund will likely have Gregor Kobel in the starting XI for their Bundesliga opener against Eintracht Frankfurt despite his recent back issue.
Gregor Kobel was forced off at half-time of Borussia Dortmund's DFB-Pokal first round tie against Phönix Lübeck on Saturday. The reason for the substitution was revealed as back problems, with Nuri Sahin saying after the game that the decision was made purely as a precaution. While Sebastian Kehl said that they took him off in order to avoid taking any risks.
BILD are now claiming that Kobel's participation for Borussia Dortmund's next game is not in danger. The goalkeeper should line up between the sticks for the Black and Yellows as they go up against Eintracht Frankfurt in their first game of the 2024/25 Bundesliga season.
Gregor Kobel set for his fourth season at Borussia Dortmund
Gregor Kobel, who joined Borussia Dortmund from VfB Stuttgart in 2021, has established himself as one of the world's top goalkeepers. Having the Switzerland international in the starting XI would be a huge boost for BVB as they look to get their Bundesliga campaign off to a winning start.
Kobel was one of Borussia Dortmund's top performers last season, making a number of big saves as the team made a stunning run to the UEFA Champions League final. He will be crucial to BVB's hopes of winning the Bundesliga title this season.
Alexander Meyer is Borussia Dortmund's second-choice goalkeeper and would step in if Kobel is unable to feature against Eintracht Frankfurt. But it appears that the 26 year old should be fit to lead BVB's charge against the likes of Omar Marmoush and co.
