Gregor Kobel was relieved that Borussia Dortmund were able to turn things around against VfL Bochum after his rare error saw them go two goals behind.
Borussia Dortmund survived a big scare against VfL Bochum on Friday evening, as they came from two goals behind to claim a 4-2 win. Serhou Guirassy led the way for the Black and Yellows by scoring a brace. The win failed to overshadow BVB's poor defensive errors in the first-half, including one by the usually reliable Gregor Kobel.
"It was definitely a mistake on my part" - Gregor Kobel explains error against Bochum
The Swiss shot-stopper gave the ball away under pressure while trying to deal with Nico Schlotterbeck's back pass. After the game, he reflected on his error and said that he is determined to put it behind him soon.
"I knew that everything was open on the right, but I concentrated on one thing too early. I wanted to offer my support and switch the play. Schlotti played the ball onto my left foot a bit and I couldn't take the ball to the other side straight away. In my head, I was still thinking that I wanted to play to the right and then I got myself into trouble. It was definitely a mistake on my part. But I'm trying not to think about it too much and to put it behind me quickly," Kobel told DAZN after the game.
Kobel also spoke about his relief that Borussia Dortmund were able to turn things around after a poor start to the game. "I'm super grateful that the team stepped on the gas after going 2-0 down and managed to pull it back. We came out of the locker room feeling very positive in the second half. It's a great thing for me and the whole team and I'm very proud."
Borussia Dortmund have started their Bundesliga campaign with three wins, one loss, and one draw from their opening five matches. Next up for Nuri Sahin's side in the league is a trip to the German capital to take on Union Berlin.
