Hans-Joachim Watzke hopes that Julian Nagelsmann will include more Borussia Dortmund players in his Germany squad for the European Championship this summer.

Niclas Füllkrug is the only Borussia Dortmund player in the Germany squad for this month's international break, with the likes of Nico Schlotterbeck, Niklas Süle, Julian Brandt, and Mats Hummels among those who missed out on a place in the squad. Hans-Joachim Watzke has now had his say on the matter, and the BVB CEO wants to see a few more players from the club make the Germany squad for the Euros.

Watzke, who also has senior roles in both the DFB and DFL, is of the opinion that the Borussia Dortmund players haven't performed as badly as some may claim. The 64 year old told Sky Sport, "Even if it annoyed me, I wouldn't say it. You just have to accept it. It has its advantages at the moment. But I'd like to have a few more players in the squad for the European Championship."

"However, I have to be honest: it's not like they've done a poor job of showing their quality. After all, we're in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. We have to leave the national coach alone now. Let him make his decisions and then we can concentrate on the Euros."

The Germany players in the Borussia Dortmund squad will certainly hope that a strong end to the season will help them receive call-ups to Julian Nagelsmann's squad for this summer's European Championship on home soil. The Black and Yellows will go up against Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga next weekend.
