"He gives our game a different dimension" - Nuri Sahin heaps praise on Serhou Guirassy

Nuri Sahin was full of praise of Serhou Guirassy after the striker made his Borussia Dortmund debut on Friday evening.

After a three-month wait, Serhou Guirassy finally made his first appearance for Borussia Dortmund on Friday as he played from the start in the Bundesliga clash against FC Heidenheim. While the 28 year old wasn't able to find the back of the net, he certainly made his presence felt and showed a good account of himself on debut.

Nuri Sahin delighted with Serhou Guirassy's impact

BVB head coach Nuri Sahin hailed Guirassy's debut performance after the game and spoke about what the striker offers to the team. "He gives our game a different dimension. He's not just a classic centre forward, he's also a player who drops back and creates space for his teammates. You don't see it all that often that a No. 9 allows the ball to run through for his team-mates on two occasions. I'm very happy that he's here."

Despite having three strikers in their ranks, Borussia Dortmund were desperate to sign a new number nine this summer and Guirassy was always their preferred target on the back of his stunning season with VfB Stuttgart.

The Black and Yellows beat out competition from a number of big clubs to sign the towering striker, who scored 30 goals in just 30 appearances for Stuttgart last season.

A knee injury suffered on international duty in June delayed Guirassy's Borussia Dortmund debut. But he is now fully fit again and will hope to lead the team's charge for the Bundesliga title in the coming months.
