Youngsters Hendry Blank and Julian Rijkhoff leave Borussia Dortmund
Talented youngsters Hendry Blank and Julian Rijkhoff have both secured permanent moves away from Borussia Dortmund, joining RB Salzburg and Ajax respectively.
It was a quiet transfer deadline day in terms of incomings for Borussia Dortmund. But the Black and Yellows did let two highly rated young players depart on permanent transfers. Hendry Blank has joined RB Salzburg in a move that comes as somewhat of a surprise, considering he earned rave reviews from those in charge after making his first-team debut earlier this month. Julian Rijkhoff, meanwhile, has returned to Ajax after failing to make his first-team breakthrough at BVB.
Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl said that Blank made the decision to leave the club as he wanted more playing time to further his development. According to Ruhr Nachrichten, BVB will receive a transfer fee of around 6-7 million euros from the sale of the young defender. Borussia Dortmund have also secured a buyback option for the 19 year old.
"I had four and a half amazing years in Dortmund, during which I made it from the youth team to the U23s to the pros. My Bundesliga debut was a very special moment and showed me that anything is possible with hard work. Now I'm looking forward to a new challenge in Salzburg and I'm very grateful to those responsible at BVB for making this step possible for me. I wish the club and the fans all the best for the future," Blank said after securing his move to RB Salzburg.
Rijkhoff was not able to break into the Borussia Dortmund first-team despite showing excellent potential with the U-19s. The 19 year old has now returned to Ajax, two and a half years after leaving the club to join BVB. According to reports, the transfer fee for the forward is in the region of 2.5 million euros including bonuses.
Borussia Dortmund also sent Gio Reyna out on loan earlier this week, with the attacking midfielder joining Nottingham Forest until the end of the season.
