Julian Brandt revealed that Marco Reus is a player he has always looked up to after the Borussia Dortmund legend celebrated his Bundesliga farewell on Saturday.
Marco Reus bid goodbye to Borussia Dortmund supporters on Saturday afternoon as he played his final game for the club at the Westfalenstadion. And he marked the occasion with an excellent performance on the pitch, scoring and assisting in the 4-0 win over SV Darmstadt.
After creating unforgettable memories and delivering countless game-changing performances for 12 years, Reus was given the fondest of farewells from 81,000+ fans as they celebrated his Borussia Dortmund career.
Julian Brandt spoke about the impact of Reus after the game, and paid tribute to the 34 year old. The playmaker hailed Reus as a great leader and an amazing role model. "We're really happy for him. I think the way the game went, it was perfect," Brandt told Sky Sport (via Kicker). "I spoke to Jadon Sancho earlier, and he said his only goal was to try and find Marco so that he could score."
"Marco is a player who leads by example, beyond what he shows on the field. He influences a lot of players, a lot of players look up to him and he was also one of the reasons why I ended up at this club. He's an amazing guy, a living legend and he will forever be one of the people I look up to in my career."
Marco Reus will play his final game in Borussia Dortmund colours on June 1 when they take on Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final at the Wembley Stadium. And his aim will be to crown his BVB career by leading the club to their first Champions League title since 1997.
