Julian Brandt has admitted that he was left surprised by Edin Terzic's decision to leave the club, but he is now looking forward to working under Nuri Sahin.
It was another summer of big change at Borussia Dortmund, as both Marco Reus and Mats Hummels left the club. Edin Terzic also made the shock decision to resign from his job as BVB head coach, just two weeks after leading the club in the UEFA Champions League final. The Black and Yellows moved quickly to appoint Nuri Sahin as their new head coach.
Julian Brandt, who played some of his best football at Borussia Dortmund under Terzic, has now had his say on the news. "I was surprised," Brandt said (via WAZ). "But I respect the decision and I'm really looking forward to working with Nuri, I think a very highly of him."
Julian Brandt ready to be a leader at Borussia Dortmund
Brandt, who has been at Borussia Dortmund for five years now, took over the number ten shirt from Jadon Sancho earlier this month. He has emerged as a real leader at BVB over the last couple of seasons, and is eager to take on more responsibility in the coming campaign.
"You learn over the years [how to lead the way]. I also see it as an opportunity to be a leader. I see it as my own responsibility, Nuri Sahin also expects that from me. I strive for the maximum. I have always done so and I will do so again this season." Brandt said.
