Star midfielder takes over number ten shirt from Jadon Sancho

Borussia Dortmund have announced that Julian Brandt will be the club's new number ten following the end of Jadon Sancho's loan spell.
With Jadon Sancho increasingly unlikely to be at Borussia Dortmund next season, Julian Brandt has been handed the number ten shirt. The attacking midfielder wore the number 19 shirt during the first five seasons of his BVB career, but has now received a new shirt number.
Before Sancho, Thorgan Hazard wore the number ten shirt at Borussia Dortmund. The likes of Mario Götze, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Tomas Rosicky, Lars Ricken, and Andreas Möller also had the iconic number ten on the back of their shirts while playing for the Black and Yellows.
Julian Brandt: The number ten shirt has a certain mystique about it
Brandt believes that the number ten shirt is very special, and he is looking forward to playing an important role for Borussia Dortmund again next season.
"It came about because Jadon's loan has ended. I had a conversation with Sebastian Kehl about this number years ago. It didn't happen back then for reasons, but we've made up for it now," Brandt said, adding, "I've been at the club for a few years now and I'm looking forward to it. This [number] has a certain mystique about it."
Borussia Dortmund signed Julian Brandt from Bayer Leverkusen in 2019, and the attacking midfielder has established himself as one of the club's most important players. He is coming off another impressive season with BVB that saw him score ten goals and assist a further 16. Overall, Brandt has 40 goals and 50 assists to his name in 216 appearances for Borussia Dortmund.
