Borussia Dortmund have extended the contract of Julian Ryerson, with the full-back putting pen to paper on a deal until 2028.
Julian Ryerson has established himself as an important player for Borussia Dortmund since joining the club from Union Berlin in January 2023. The Black and Yellows have now rewarded the Norwegian international with a new contract that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2027/28 season.
Ryerson’s high work-rate, intensity, and tenacity have made him a fan favourite at Borussia Dortmund. Just as comfortable playing at both right-back and left-back, he has gone from strength to strength since his move to the Westfalenstadion.
The 26 year old also played a crucial role in BVB’s run to the UEFA Champions League final last season, most notably keeping Kylian Mbappe at bay in the semifinals. He also scored against Bayern Munich, helping BVB claim their first Der Klassiker win in five years.
"He fully identifies with Borussia Dortmund" - Julian Ryerson pens contract extension
Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl expressed his delight after extending the contract of Ryerson. "Julian became a very important part of our team immediately after signing. That applies both on and off the pitch," Kehl said.
"He fully identifies with this club and gives us various options with his versatile profile. We are very happy to be able to tie Julian to us for the next four years."
Ryerson said that he feels right at home at Borussia Dortmund and is delighted to get to play for the club for years to come. "I'm still proud and humbled to be part of this club. And now I'm very happy that I can continue to play for Borussia Dortmund. I feel at home here and enjoy every match day - especially when we play at home. That's why I'm at BVB, and I want to have this feeling for as long as possible," Ryerson said.
Julian Ryerson has made a total of 62 appearances for Borussia Dortmund and has five goals and three assists to his name.
