Jürgen Klopp has full confidence that Nuri Sahin will be successful at Borussia Dortmund after being appointed the club’s new head coach.

Borussia Dortmund made the decision to appoint Nuri Sahin as head coach last week, with the 35 year old agreeing to a three year contract to replace the outgoing Edin Terzic. After making 274 appearances as a player for the Black and Yellows, Sahin is now set to lead the club’s charge for the Bundesliga title next season.

The pressure will certainly be on Sahin, as he becomes Borussia Dortmund’s seventh head coach since Jürgen Klopp’s departure in 2015. But the legendary BVB trainer is confident that Sahin is up for the task.

“At 35, Nuri is a very young coach, but so was I. I have every confidence that he will also become a super coach after his outstanding career as a player. Of course, I wish him maximum success at BVB,” Klopp said in an interview with BILD.

Klopp and Sahin won the Bundesliga title with Borussia Dortmund in 2011, and the former was also the head coach when the latter returned to the club two years later after a spell at Real Madrid.

After leaving Borussia Dortmund in 2018, Nuri Sahin had spells at Werder Bremen and Antalyaspor. He ended his playing career in 2021 to become the manager of the Turkish club. Now he is back at Borussia Dortmund, and will hope to enjoy just as much success as he did during his playing career with the club.
