Borussia Dortmund will be in action against relegation threatened Mainz 05 on matchday 33 of the 2023/24 Bundesliga season.

The penultimate matchday of the Bundesliga season is upon us, and Borussia Dortmund will hope to keep their winning run going as they square off against Mainz 05. Having qualified for the UEFA Champions League final for the first time since 2013 earlier this week, Edin Terzic's side will now be keen to avoid a European hangover and see off the challenge of the 05ers.

Borussia Dortmund have already secured Champions League football for next season, so there isn't a whole lot riding on this weekend's game for them. But Mainz 05, who are currently in the relegation play-off spot, will be desperate for a strong result on Saturday.

We could see wholesale changes to the Borussia Dortmund starting XI, with the likes of Mats Hummels, Jadon Sancho, Marcel Sabitzer, and Ian Maatsen among those in line for some rest. Marco Reus will make his penultimate appearance in the Bundesliga for BVB, while the highly rated Kjell Wätjen will hope to play his second game for the first-team.

Brajan Gruda could be one to watch for Mainz 05. The talented winger has been in fine form for Mainz this season, and will hope to cap off his breakthrough campaign with a goal against Borussia Dortmund.
