Marco Reus celebrated his MLS debut in style as he scored a goal and assisted another to help LA Galaxy claim a 2-0 win over Atlanta United.

Days after completing his move to LA Galaxy on a free transfer, Marco Reus made his Major League Soccer debut on Saturday. The former Borussia Dortmund star stole the show with an excellent performance after coming off the bench.

Marco Reus gets goal and assist on MLS debut

Reus needed only 14 minutes to make his presence felt on the game. In the 76th minute, he set up former FC Barcelona midfielder Riqui Puig for the opening goal of the game. The attacking midfielder then put the result beyond any doubt in the 84th minute, firing home from the rebound after his initial shot was saved.

It was an MLS debut to remember for Reus, who helped LA Galaxy claim their 400th win in league history and maintain their lead at the top of the Western Conference standings. The 35 year old recently joined the club on a two and a half year contract.

Marco Reus, who left Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season, made a total of 429 appearances for the club. He is the club's second highest goalscorer of all time, having found the back of the on 170 occasions. Reus' performances for BVB over 12 years helped him cement his status as a club legend. Now, at the twilight of his career, he will hope to make a similar impact in the MLS.
