"My love for this club is well known" - Sebastian Kehl comments on his Borussia Dortmund future

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has had his say on his future at the club, with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season.
Sebastian Kehl has been the Borussia Dortmund sporting director since replacing Michael Zorc in 2022. He has overseen three busy summer transfer windows, and has shaped the squad in his image with a number of shrewd moves.

With another busy summer transfer window in the books, the Borussia Dortmund heirarchy will now look to resolve Kehl's long-term future. With his current contract set to expire at the end of the season, talks over a possible extension will likely take place in the coming months.
The 44 year old has now stated his plans for the future, and wants to continue on this path with Borussia Dortmund. During his appearance on Sky 90 on Sunday evening, Kehl said: "Together we have built something special here. I would really enjoy continuing that. If the club approaches me and thinks I'm still important, we'll sit down together. My love for this club is well known."
Kehl also spoke about his relationship with Borussia Dortmund head coach Nuri Sahin, and hailed the impact of his former teammate. "I really enjoy working with Nuri Sahin. He is a very competent coach and has a great personality."

Sebastian Kehl first joined Borussia Dortmund as a player from SC Freiburg in 2002. He made a total of 362 appearances for the club and also won the Bundesliga title twice. He retired in 2015 before returning to BVB as the head of the licensed players' department three years later. Following Michael Zorc's retirement in 2022, Kehl was appointed the club's sporting director.
