Napoli eyeing move for Borussia Dortmund captain Emre Can

Napoli are said to be interested in signing Emre Can, with Antonio Conte looking to bring the Borussia Dortmund captain back to Italy.
Emre Can led Borussia Dortmund to the UEFA Champions League final last season, and also earned a last minute call-up to the Germany squad for Euro 2024. While his overall performances over the course of the campaign left a lot to be desired, Napoli are planning to make a move for him this summer.
This is being reported by BILD, who add that the Italian giants also wanted to sign Can during the January transfer window. But with Antonio Conte now at the helm, Napoli are now looking to make a new attempt to sign the 30 year old. According to the tabloid, Borussia Dortmund would consider selling Can if they were to receive a transfer fee between 10-15 million euros.
It remains to be seen just how serious Napoli’s interest is in signing Can, and whether the midfielder would even consider a transfer. He was only appointed Borussia Dortmund captain last summer, and also signed a contract extension with the club.
Can made a total of 38 appearances for Borussia Dortmund across all competitions last season. He joined BVB from Juventus in 2020, and remains a decisive figure among the supporters.
Borussia Dortmund are set to bolster their midfield ranks with the signing of Pascal Groß. But if Can were to leave the Black and Yellows this summer, those in charge would likely need to bring in another defensive midfielder.
