Niclas Füllkrug ready to come off the bench for Germany if needed
Niclas Füllkrug is confident that he can make a big impact for Germany at the European Championship even if he starts on the bench.
Despite scoring ten goals in just 13 appearances for Germany, Niclas Füllkrug is not guaranteed a spot in the starting XI. In fact, it appears that the Borussia Dortmund striker may well have to play second fiddle to Kai Havertz. The Arsenal forward is in excellent form at the moment, and could well start up front for Germany against France on Saturday.
But Füllkrug is not worried about coming off the bench for Julian Nagelsmann's side, and is confident that he has what it takes to make an impact. During a press conference on Thursday, the 31 year old said (via Kicker): "I think that my position remains the same. There have also been matches recently where I've come off the bench. I'm very relaxed. I've scored goals coming off the bench and can give the team fresh impetus and energy from that role. A tournament is about having players in a role where they can help the team."
While Füllkrug has found goals hard to come by in recent weeks, he has still found the back of the net on 12 ocassions for Borussia Dortmund this season. The striker also has ten assists to his name, showcasing his playmaking ability.
Niclas Füllkrug is the only Borussia Dortmund player in the Germany squad for this month's international break. Deniz Undav and Maximilian Beier are the other strikers called up by Julian Nagelsmann.
