Niklas Süle is hopeful of making a fresh start at Borussia Dortmund this season, and is said to be working hard to fight his way back into favour.

After a disappointing season that saw him lose his spot in the Borussia Dortmund starting XI, questions have started to emerge about Niklas Süle's future at the club. The centre-back has seemingly struggled with fitness issues, with reports claiming that the BVB bosses held a meeting with him at the end of last season and told him to return for pre-season in top shape.

Report: Niklas Süle happy with change of coach

And that is exactly what appears to have happened, with BILD claiming that Süle underwent a tailored training program during the off-season, apparently losing 8 kg of weight. The tabloid adds that the 28 year old is exceeding Borussia Dortmund's expectations with his training. Further, Süle is said to be have been delighted with the change in coach, and is motivated to fight his way into the starting XI under the newly appointed Nuri Sahin.

Süle will certainly get his opportunity during pre-season, with Nico Schlotterbeck and Waldemar Anton both currently on vacation after representing Germany at the European Championship. And if the former Bayern centre-back can manage to make a strong impression on those in charge, an opportunity in the starting XI for the start of the season could follow.

Borussia Dortmund signed Niklas Süle on a free transfer from Bayern Munich in 2022, and he has made a total of 72 appearances for the club. He still has two years left on his current contract, and is one of the club's highest earners. So Borussia Dortmund will certainly hope that Süle can find his form and showcase his quality in the coming months.
