Nuri Sahin is hoping to see a reaction from his players when Borussia Dortmund go up against VfL Bochum in the Bundesliga this weekend.
Still reeling from their shock 5-1 defeat to VfB Stuttgart, Borussia Dortmund will return to Bundesliga action on Friday when they take on VfL Bochum. The 'mini Revierderby' will mark the perfect opportunity for the Black and Yellows to return to winning ways. And Nuri Sahin is hoping for a reaction from his side.
Nuri Sahin: Borussia Dortmund have a duty to live up to expectations
During his pre-match press conference on Wednesday, the BVB head coach said, "Of course, we need a reaction. We want to show a completely different face on Friday and win the game. We have to give our answers [on the pitch]. We have a duty to live up to our expectations."
Sahin also reflected on the defeat to Stuttgart, and said that nothing went right for Borussia Dortmund last weekend. He also accepted the criticism that came his way after the game, and acknowledged that some of the things he tried did not work out.
"It happened, but we're looking ahead now. We don't need to sugarcoat anything. We've clearly addressed and analysed all the situations. Nothing went right for us at the weekend. I wasn't at my best in the game either."
Borussia Dortmund will be desperate to return to winning ways on Friday. But Bochum could offer them with a resilient test, as they have often done over the years. Regardless, anything other than a comfortable win would lead to more pressure on Nuri Sahin and his side.
