"The door is open" - Nuri Sahin ready to give chances to Borussia Dortmund youngsters

Nuri Sahin has made it clear that the door is open for the Borussia Dortmund youngsters to try and assert themselves into his first-team plans for the coming season.

Borussia Dortmund have a number of very talented young players in their ranks at the moment, and a few of those youngsters got the opportunity to showcase their talent during the club's recently concluded tour of Asia. The likes of Paris Brunner and Almugera Kabar were among the highly rated players who got the opportunity to feature in the BVB first-team.

With several exciting young players in Borussia Dortmund's ranks, Nuri Sahin is leaving the door open for them to try and break into the first-team squad. Reflecting on the Asia Tour, the BVB head coach said (via Ruhr Nachrichten), "I made it very clear to the boys: the door is open for everyone, but I can't push them through it. They have to go through it themselves."

Sahin also commented on Brunner, who is facing an uncertain future at the club due to long-drawn talks over a contract extension. The 18 year old is regarded as one of the most talented young forwards in Germany.

"I've been getting to know Paris and have spoken to him a lot. He is very self-confident, he wants to show that. I think it's always good when a player shows this confidence. But he also has to learn, has to compete with quality players. He has to assert himself," Sahin said.

The Borussia Dortmund youngsters will hope to get more playing time in the coming weeks as the first-team continues its preparations for the start of the new season. Although there will be tougher competition for places, with the players involved at Euro 2024 about to return to training.
