Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of Pascal Groẞ from Brighton & Hove Albion, with the midfielder putting pen to paper on a two year contract with the club.

Pascal Groẞ is back in German football after a seven year stint with Brighton & Hove Albion, joining Borussia Dortmund on a two year deal. The Germany international will hope to bolster the BVB midfield and bring more stability to the team in the middle of the park.

The Black and Yellows identified Groẞ as a transfer target on the back of his excellent performances for Brighton last season. He was also linked with a move to Eintracht Frankfurt, but decided to join BVB in the end.

Boyhood Borussia Dortmund fan Pascal Groẞ determined to repay trust

The 33 year old registered five goals and 13 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions last season, showcasing his ability to dictate tempo, control proceedings, and play shrewd passes. Borussia Dortmund will hope that Groẞ can make a similar impact at the Westfalenstadion, and will be relying on his all-round ability and versatility in the coming campaign.

Pascal Groẞ will look to cap off his late career resurgence by helping Borussia Dortmund compete for the Bundesliga title next season. He said he has been a BVB fan since he was a kid, and is determined to make an impact at the club. "For me, this transfer is simply a huge opportunity, because I've been a Dortmund fan since I was a little boy. I will try to repay the club's trust with my performances and can't wait to play at Signal Iduna Park with my new teammates in front of the BVB fans."

Nuri Sahin’s side desperately needed some experience in the squad following the summer exits of Marco Reus and Mats Hummels. And in Groẞ, they have signed a player who has been playing some of the best football of his career at the age of 33.
