Predicted Borussia Dortmund lineup for Werder Bremen clash
Niclas Füllkrug will hope to score against his former club as Borussia Dortmund take on Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga this weekend.
Borussia Dortmund will be in Bundesliga action against Werder Bremen away from home this weekend. The game should offer the Black and Yellows with a tough test ahead of their Champions League round of 16 second leg against PSV Eindhoven.
Edin Terzic will be pleased to welcome Donyell Malen back into the squad on Saturday, after the Dutch forward missed the trip to Union Berlin through suspension. Gregor Kobel and Felix Nmecha are also expected to return to the squad after recovering from their injuries. Here we take a look at how Borussia Dortmund could line up for their Bundesliga clash against Werder Bremen.
Gregor Kobel will likely replace Alexander Meyer between the sticks this weekend despite the latter's impressive performance against Union Berlin. The Swiss international will hope to find his rhythm quickly after missing the last couple of games due to injury.
Julian Ryerson and Ian Maatsen will start as the two full-backs for Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. The latter will be full of confidence after scoring his first goal in BVB colours last weekend.
The centre-back partnership of Niklas Süle and Nico Schlotterbeck is unlikely to be dislodged for the trip to Bremen. Both players will be keen to build on their solid showing in Berlin.
Emre Can remains under pressure, but Terzic is likely to persist with the club captain in defensive midfield. Can will hope to get some confidence back on side ahead of the PSV clash.
Marcel Sabitzer will likely start in the number eight role. Although it will be interesting to see if Julian Brandt keeps his spot in the starting XI after a couple of underwhelming performances. Marco Reus could be an option to replace Brandt if Terzic decides to change things up.
Jadon Sancho could also drop to the bench after failing to make an impact in recent weeks. Donyell Malen is available again and will probably slot straight into the starting XI. Karim Adeyemi is also likely to start after his goal against Union Berlin last weekend.
Leading the line will be Niclas Füllkrug, who will be keen to deliver a strong performance against his former club. The Germany international has been in excellent form since the turn of the year.
Expected Borussia Dortmund Lineup vs Werder Bremen: Kobel - Ryerson, Süle, Schlotterbeck, Maatsen - Can, Sabitzer, Brandt - Malen, Adeyemi - Füllkrug
