Older fans likely remember that Borussia Dortmund was not using the usual yellow color at the height of the club's sporting success in the 1990s. The club decided to celebrate the decade and all of the important figures of that time with the Special Edition NULL NE90N kit. It was released in April 2021 in a special box.

The shirt was predominantly black and with neon yellow sleeves. It looked similar to the 1995-95 away kit, with a different twist. The Puma logo was retro, while the main shirt sponsor was 1&1. Opel was on the left sleeve as the secondary sponsor.

Several BVB legends such as Matthis Sammer, Michael Zorc, Lars Ricken, Stephane Chapuisat, Heiko Herrlich and Stefan Klos are featured on the shirt. These legends helped Dortmund lift the Champions League trophy in 1997 and win two Bundesliga titles in 1995 and 1996.
