By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign Can Uzun, who is enjoying a breakthrough campaign with 2. Bundesliga side 1.FC Nuremberg.
It appears as though highly rated attacking midfielder Can Uzun will not be joining Borussia Dortmund, with Eintracht Frankfurt seemingly in pole position to secure his signature. The Black and Yellows had been heavily linked with a move for the 18 year old in recent months, and it was even claimed that they viewed him as the long-term successor to Marco Reus.
However, according to Christopher Michel of Fussball.News, Eintracht Frankfurt are confident of signing the talented midfielder and Borussia Dortmund have decided to drop out of the race for his signature. The BVB bosses will now look to focus on other targets, with the signing of a new attacking midfielder likely to be a priority for the club in the summer, depending on how the futures of Gio Reyna and Marco Reus are resolved.
Reyna is currently on loan at Premier League side Nottingham Forest, while Reus could leave Borussia Dortmund when his current contract expires in the summer.
Can Uzun has scored 13 goals and assisted a further three in 20 appearances across all competitions so far this season, and is regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in German football. His excellent performances have seen him attract the interest of clubs from all over Europe, but his priority is to secure a move to a Bundesliga club. Primarily an attacking midfielder, Uzun is also capable of playing up front as a centre-forward.
