It appears increasingly unlikely that Tottenham Hotspur's Sergio Reguilón will be the left-back Borussia Dortmund sign this month.

Borussia Dortmund are looking to bring in a new left-back, and Sergio Reguilón is one of the names to be heavily linked with a move to the club. But according to Ruhr Nachrichten, it is not very likely that the Spaniard will make the move to BVB. The Black and Yellows seemingly have other prefered targets to fill the vacancy at left-back, with Ian Maatsen of Chelsea thought to be on top of their list.

Although talks with Chelsea over the signing of Maatsen could prove to be complicated, with Borussia Dortmund hoping to sign him on an initial loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Borussia Dortmund are keen to sign a new left-back this month - ideally on a temporary basis - due to Julian Ryerson's knee injury and Ramy Bensebaini's involvement at the Africa Cup of Nations with Algeria. It was initially claimed that Reguilón is Sebastian Kehl's top target for the left-back position. And while his loan spell with Manchester United has since been cut short, a move to Dortmund does not appear to be in the offing for the 27 year old at the moment.

It has been an eventful start to the January transfer window for Borussia Dortmund, who are in talks to sign Jadon Sancho on loan. And those in charge will also hope to secure the signing of a new left-back in the coming days.
