Report: Sergio Reguilón is Borussia Dortmund's top January transfer target
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund are reportedly working intensively to sign Sergio Reguilón from Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window.
Signing a new left-back will be Borussia Dortmund's top priority for the January transfer window. And Sergio Reguilón is said to be the club's prefered transfer target, with BILD claiming that those in charge are working intensively on a deal to sign the Spaniard. The tabloid adds that the Black and Yellows would like to sign Reguilón on an initial loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season.
Reguilón is currently on loan at Manchester United, where he has been reduced to a bit-part role. There is a clause in the 27 year old's contract that will allow him to end the loan deal in January, and the prospect of regular playing time could sway him towards a move to Borussia Dortmund.
Edin Terzic's side will be desperately short of options at left-back next month, with Ramy Bensebaini set to miss a number of matches as he will be representing Algeria at the Africa Cup of Nations. Julian Ryerson is currently injured, and could also be forced to miss a few matches after the winter break.
Sergio Reguilón is an attack-minded full-back who came through the ranks at Real Madrid. He made his breakthrough at Sevilla before joining Tottenham Hotspur. He spent last season on loan at Atletico Madrid, and joined Manchester United on a loan deal in September. He has made a total of ten appearances so far this season for the English Premier League side.
