Borussia Dortmund's transfer business continues to take shape this summer with more incomings and outcomings slowly being planned in the background by Lars Ricken and Sebastian Kehl. There are quite a few players in the squad that Dortmund have reportedly set their price for in the hopes that they can be moved on and further changes can take place from the squad-building perspective to fit the mold of head coach Nuri Şahin for the coming season.

Salih Özcan is among the candidates for transfer per reports, with the club having set a valuation of 10 million euros for his services. Özcan moved to Dortmund from FC Köln in 2022 after a very solid season in Cologne. The Turkish international hasn't really made an impact on the first team however and has played most of his football coming off the bench since joining.

During last year's transfer window, the player had a market in Türkiye but was not very enthusiastic about any of the proposals or about the prospect of leaving Dortmund. This year, interest in his services is now coming from France, with the likes of Lyon and Rennes vying for his signature.

The interest from Lyon in particular is something to watch going forward as Dortmund has been very interested in securing a deal for talented attacker Rayan Cherki. While "swap deals" aren't necessarily common in football, nor should one be expected in this case, perhaps negotiations surrounding both players could work in favor of both clubs in terms of securing their desired targets.

A departure for Özcan could also see Dortmund become active in the transfer market from a defensive-midfield standpoint. The club will only have Emre Can as a clear-cut choice for the position if Özcan leaves, and while Marcel Sabitzer, Kjell Wätjen and incoming Germany international Pascal Groß can play the position, defensive midfield isn't necessarily where any of these names are best suited in Dortmund's starting 11. The club would be best suited to dip back into the market to find a true competitor for Can for the upcoming season.
