It appears that Julian Nagelsmann has pulled himself out of contention to become the next Borussia Dortmund head coach, should the club part ways with Edin Terzic in the summer.

The future of Edin Terzic beyond the end of the season remains uncertain, and will largely hinge on whether he can lead Borussia Dortmund to a top four finish this season. Julian Nagelsmann is one of the names to have been linked with a move to the Black and Yellows in recent weeks.

But Sky Sport are now reporting that the Germany head coach will not be taking charge at Borussia Dortmund next season as things stand. He is said to have other plans for his future beyond the summer.

Nagelsmann, who will be out of contract as Germany trainer after the European Championship, would like his future to be resolved before the tournament gets underway. The DFB have already made it clear that they would like to extend his contract. And the 36 year old has also been linked with a spectacular return to Bayern Munich.

An intriguing coaching carousel across Europe could very well lie in store this summer, and it will be interesting to see if Borussia Dortmund decide to become part of that. For now, Edin Terzic has the club's full backing. But failure to qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League could prompt a rethink among the club's heirarchy.

Borussia Dortmund will resume their Bundesliga campaign this weekend as they go up against Bayern Munich away from home in the Bundesliga.
