Salih Özcan is free to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer and clubs from France are said to be eyeing a move for the defensive midfielder.

Behind Emre Can in the pecking order for defensive midfielders at Borussia Dortmund, Salih Özcan could leave the club before the start of the new season. According to Sky Sport, the Black and Yellows would be willing to sell the 26 year old for a fee of around ten million euros this summer.

The report adds that Olympique Marseille and Stade Rennes are said to be keen on signing Özcan, and clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia have also signalled their interest in his signature.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Özcan, who joined Borussia Dortmund from FC Köln in 2022. The Turkey international has made a total of 70 appearances for BVB, and said last month that he has no plans to leave the club this summer. He still has two years left on his current contract with BVB.

Borussia Dortmund are said to be looking to bolster their defensive midfield ranks this summer, which is a further signal that Özcan's time at the club could be about to come to an end. The likes of Pascal Groß and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg have been linked with a move to BVB in recent weeks.

Emre Can is the favourite to retain the starting spot at Borussia Dortmund in the number six role in the coming campaign, although Nuri Sahin may look to make a change in the position following the club captain's underwhelming performances last season.
