Salih Özcan 'exploring his options' amid uncertain Borussia Dortmund future
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund defensive midfielder Salih Özcan is said to be exploring his options with a view towards a potential move away from the club before the transfer window closes.
Salih Özcan was left out of the Borussia Dortmund squad for their Bundesliga opener against Eintracht Frankfurt, and is seemingly free to leave the club. Reports have linked the Türkiye international with a move to 2. Bundesliga side Hannover 96 in recent days. And while that appears to be an unrealistic option, Sky Sport are claiming that he is considering his options at the moment.

Several other clubs have also been linked with a move for Özcan, with BILD mentioning the likes of Marseille, Lyon, Galatasaray, Besiktas and Rennes.
Özcan said in June that he is not thinking about leaving Borussia Dortmund this summer, with two years left on his current contract. But now it appears that he could be on the move this week.
Borussia Dortmund signed Özcan from FC Köln in 2022. While he made a promising start, he wasn't able to build on it and establish himself as a regular starter. The 26 year old has made a total of 70 appearances for BVB.
Following the arrival of Pascal Groß from Brighton & Hove Albion, Salih Özcan fell further down the pecking order in midfield. The BVB bosses have made it clear that they want to part ways with the defensive midfielder. And it will be interesting to see if a solution can be found in the coming days.
