Sebastian Kehl delighted with "exhilarating" Borussia Dortmund performance against Celtic

Sebastian Kehl could not be more pleased with the way Borussia Dortmund played against Celtic on Tuesday, and wants the team to build on that result this weekend.

Borussia Dortmund delivered an attacking performance of the highest quality on Tuesday as they claimed a stunning 7-1 win over Celtic. The Black and Yellows were ruthless in attack and caused all sorts of problems to the Celtic defenders with their pace and incisiveness. And Sebastian Kehl was delighted to experience such an incredible performance.

The BVB sporting director spoke after the game about the energy inside the stadium and the exhilarating football the home side played, especially in the first-half. "We played a very good game. The first-half was exhilarating. The energy the team brought onto the pitch was remarkable. They were consistently pressing, didn't get thrown off when Celtic equalised, and they defended strongly up top. All the spectators will be going home with a big smile on their faces."

"If we work together like this, we can really achieve something. This has to be the standard for us. We have to see performances like this much more often."

Kehl also warned that Borussia Dortmund must keep their performance levels up as they face another tough test in the Bundesliga this weekend - away to Union Berlin. "We know how hard it will be on Saturday against Union Berlin. If we perform like this, we'll win at the weekend too, but with anything less, it will be difficult."

Borussia Dortmund have now scored 11 goals in their last two matches, and have issued an excellent response to their 5-1 defeat to VfB Stuttgart two weeks ago. Nuri Sahin's side will hope to keep that run going, but Union Berlin could offer them with another tough test in the Bundesliga this weekend.
