Borussia Dortmund’s striker situation has been unraveling very quickly as of recent days. Youssoufa Moukoko, based on comments made by his agent, is set to seek pastures new, while Niclas Füllkrug seems open to a move to West Ham in the Premier League.

In tandem with these names, Sébastien Haller is also seemingly set to leave. Per reports from SportBild, the player is very much open to a move away from the Westfalenstadion but there have not been any inquiries as of yet for his services. Earlier reports had floated the idea of interest from Turkey and Mexico, but these claims are apparently false.

Haller (30) is likely looking to jump-start his career after his cancer diagnosis de-railed it two seasons ago. The player has shown both with the Ivory Coast national team, and with Dortmund in the Champions League, that he still has something to offer on the pitch. He would likely benefit from a move to a club with fewer expectations where he could get consistent game time and rebuild his form.

That being said, Dortmund is seemingly staring a striker fire-sale in the face, with all three players now either sounding out the market or, with Füllkrug in particular, negotiating with other clubs. Dortmund won’t be able to sell all three players this summer, especially from the standpoint that Serhou Guirassy is still recovering from injury. The club is quite possibly about to turn a striker surplus into a striker deficit, and with the competitive season not too far away, it may prove a dangerous move for Dortmund to try to move all three players on all at once without a serious contingency plan.

It remains to be seen just what Dortmund really end up doing in the striker position before the start of the season. With so many players having their futures up in the air, the club will have to act swiftly to insure whoever leaves is accounted for in squad planning and whoever they bring in has enough pre-season with the team to properly gel.
