Sven Mislintat appears to be on the verge of joining Borussia Dortmund, and his return to the club could even be made official this week.

Borussia Dortmund are set for a big shake-up in management personnel this summer, and Sven Mislintat is closing in on a return to the club. According to Ruhr Nachrichten, the former BVB chief scout's comeback is now imminent. Only small details still need to be resolved before an announcement can be made.

It currently remains to be seen what role Mislintat will take in the new hierarchy, or what his arrival means for Sebastian Kehl, who is Borussia Dortmund's current sporting director. The former BVB captain is one of the candidates to take over from Hans-Joachim Watzke when the latter steps down. But it was reported recently that his future remains up in the air, with a number of other names also in the mix to succeed Watzke. Kehl's current contract will expire at the end of next season.

Mislintat spent two decades at Borussia Dortmund in various scouting roles, before joining Arsenal in 2017. He then returned to German football with VfB Stuttgart, before an ill-fated six month spell with Ajax. Highly regarded for his talent spotting skills, Mislintat played a key role in a number of BVB's most exciting signings over one of the most successful periods in the club's history.

The 51 year old is now set to return to Borussia Dortmund where he will hope to build a squad that is capable of challenging for the Bundesliga title next season.
