Borussia Dortmund's current squad: The outlook for attack

Wingers: All of Borussia Dortmund's wingers lack consistency. Some due to young age and some, like Donyell Malen, are hot and cold in terms of heir form. The first half of Malen's season was really poor, while the other half has been really good. If a significant offer comes for him, he should be sold.

The club should also seek a loan extension for Jadon Sancho for another year to get the pay-off for this half season where the club has invested time in him. Karim Adeyemi must show his potential next season – it is his chance to prove he can be a consistent Bundesliga player over the course of a season. Otherwise, he should part ways with the club in 2025.

The club should also promote Paris Brunner. Jamie Bynoe Gittens should also be monitored to see if he can take the next step in his development and add to the quality of our attacking game.

Strikers: Borussia Dortmund currently have three strikers on the books, which is too much. The club should part ways with either Niclas Füllkrug or Sebastien Haller or agree on a loan deal for Youssoufa Moukoko to gain consistent Bundesliga game time. Ideally, he would come back in 2025 and fulfil his potential with Borussia Dortmund. At that point, Dortmund could then look to move on from either of Haller or Füllkrug.

Finances at the club are tight but a proper overhaul will require an expenditure well above 100 million euros and possibly leave a transfer net deficit of 30-50 million euros. It would be a transfer expenditure that we haven’t seen since the COVID-19 pandemic. It may be expensive, but can Borussia Dortmund really afford not to spend big?
