As reported by the French outlet L'Équipe, Olympique Lyonnais and owner John Textor put a price tag on Cherki at around 40 million euros and aspire for a quick sale, which is not guaranteed at this point in time, according to the report.
Rayan Cherki's destination could be either Germany, England, or Italy. With interest from many clubs, Borussia Dortmund are the clear frontrunners for the French talent in Germany, while Liverpool FC also monitor the situation despite their priority being Florian Wirtz, as reported by Santi Aouna. AC Milan is also in the race, but without Champions League football next season, the Italians will need to find other ways to tempt Cherki to Milan.
From the information collected until now, AC Milan were the only ones who held talks about a Rayan Cherki transfer, while it is again not an easy deal for the Italians to make. Lyon has not yet received any official offers for Rayan Cherki.
According to Bild, Rayan Cherki and Jobe Bellingham are the two priorities for the Black and Yellows in the summer transfer market. While a deal for Jobe looks more likely at this point, BVB remain interested in Cherki and will try again to sign him after the deal fell through last winter.
It would require a tremendous investment for Dortmund standards to play 40 million for Cherki. Even though I believe this value is negotiable due to Lyon's need to sell and his contract running out in 2026, Cherki would be worth that price tag, in my opinion. He is young and very talented, and it is not easy find players like that so early in their careers for that price. A once in a lifetime opportunity for BVB.
