According to Sky Sports journalist Patrick Berger, Borussia Dortmund has yet to make a concrete move for Rayan Cherki; however, the Black and Yellows look ahead of their two notable opponents for the signature of the young French international.
As Berger reported, Manchester United and Olympique Lyon representatives met a few weeks ago regarding Rayan Cherki, as the French side is aware of United's interest, as they are of BVB's. Despite that initial contact, United's defeat in the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur could help BVB in this race.
As Cherki aspires for European football next season, it seems rather unlikely that Cherki will move to a non-European playing club like the Red Devils. In that same line, AC Milan are also considered to have shortened their chances for Cherki with zero chance of reaching the top six.
Rayan Cherki is expected to cost at least 30 million euros as he has only one year remaining on his contract. Other sources report that John Textor, Lyon owner, aims for a 40 million fee to let Cherki leave, so negotiations will be necessary to bring him to the Signal Iduna Park.
At first, Bellingham seems to be BVB's number one priority, even though Cherki is also at the top of Dortmund's shopping list. However, in order to materialize a Cherki transfer after Jobe, other players such as Giovanni Reyna, Marcel Sabitzer, and Salih Özcan would have to go out first, as Berger cited. Dortmund is definitely aiming to revamp the midfield for next season.
